It will come as a surprise to nobody that 2016 has been a year of great loss for the internationally community.

These people were more than celebrities, the simple term that the media uses to describe them. They were inspirations; passionate people with grand ideas who wanted to change the world, and did.

In honour of these icons, as well as several other heroes who have passed away in the last decade, Italy-based artist Duminda Perera has created six watercolour portraits. Incorporating some of their most powerful words, the paintings are as dynamic as the individuals themselves, thanks to simple designs that make use of a two-colour gradient to grab a viewer’s attention.

Posted on Perera’s Behance page, the pictures were accompanied by a notice that they would soon be available to purchase on canvas.
