After watching the video below, you’ll regret all those times you skimmed over those sequinned clothes in your closet because you were worried they’d seem too flashy!

The dress – designed for the January 2016 Elie Saab Haute Couture show – featured 7,000 pearls, 5,000 sequins, 900 resin flowers, and 500 silk-organza petals, all added to the dress by hand by members of the 200-strong team who created pieces for the event.

The Beirut headquarters where the dress was produced is like an incredible hybrid of classic craftsmanship and modern innovation, with workers hand-pressing putty alongside mannequins specifically created based on the measurements of individual clients.

Nothing seems more classic, however, than Elie Saab’s attention to detail. Watching these people at work breeds the kind of respect that reminds us fashion is nothing if not a form of art.
